DOD’s Chief AI Officer Launches Rapid Capability Cell, Frontier AI Pilots to Accelerate Adoption of Cutting Edge Tech

• The Pentagon’s Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) launched the AI Rapid Capabilities Cell (AI RCC) to accelerate advanced AI adoption in the Defense Department.
• In partnership with the Defense Innovation Unit, the AI RCC will execute four Frontier AI pilots for warfighting and enterprise management applications.
• CDAO Dr. Radha Plumb highlighted the urgency to maintain U.S. AI leadership amid accelerating AI adoption by adversaries like China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea.
• The initiatives are part of an “all-hands-on-deck” strategy to enhance national security and maintain technological superiority.
