Global consulting firm AlixPartners has introduced a new leadership position, appointing Hoyoung Pak as its first Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer (CAIO). The move highlights the firm’s increasing commitment to weaving AI innovation into both its internal operations and the solutions it delivers to clients.
Leading the Firm’s AI Strategy
In his new role, Pak will report directly to Co-CEOs David Garfield and Rob Hornby. His responsibilities include steering AI innovation across the firm, guiding technology adoption, and ensuring that investments in AI create measurable impact rather than remaining experimental.
Speaking about the appointment, Pak noted that artificial intelligence offers tremendous opportunities but is often surrounded by hype and complexity. His focus will be on helping clients cut through the noise and unlock practical, results-driven applications of AI.
Strengthening the AI & Data Practice
Pak will collaborate with Angela Zutavern (Dallas) and Catherine Brien (London), who will act as Co-Heads of the AI & Data practice. Together, their teams will partner with clients across industries to design, implement, and sustain AI strategies that create long-term business value.
This expansion underscores AlixPartners’ mission to not only advise organizations on AI adoption but also help them implement solutions that deliver sustainable results.
Pak’s Professional Journey
Since joining AlixPartners in 2022, Pak has been based in Chicago and has contributed to projects spanning financial services, consumer markets, and business-to-business industries. Over the course of his career, he has championed technology-driven transformation, especially in leveraging AI and machine learning to improve efficiency, customer insights, and growth.
Pak’s academic background strengthens his expertise at the intersection of technology and business. He earned a PhD, MS, and BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois and also holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
